Although the match was unusually hard going for many, Knowle West's very own "Johnny Kingdom", Alan Healy made no mistakes when he drew the end peg flier, peg 20 from the bag. Fishing paste firstly in open water and then down his left margin he caught carp steadily all day for a total of 132lbs 2oz.
Almost 40lbs behind, in second place, was Neil Mercer who despite suffering an early ear-bashing over the phone from a rather unhappy wife (no surprise seeing as he had spent the previous night trawling Bristol's lap-dancing establishments until the early hours!), still managed to net 94lbs 6oz.
Fishing from the opposite bank on peg 4 Neil (pictured right) caught all his fish on 6mm soft pellet at 13m.
Never out of the frame, Chris Szakacs took third spot with 82lbs 9oz from peg 18 fishing pellet on the method feeder and later paste on the pole line.
Last in the money and only 8oz behind Chris was party animal Craig Trigger Edmunds with 82lbs 1oz from peg 15.
Section winners (by default) were Mike Smith with 39-6 from peg 3 and Mark Radford with 67-0 from peg 19.
Some competitors unfortunately struggled for bites all day ......

ReplyDeleteCheers Tony, back now with a vengeance after suffering a bit of major domestic disaster.
ReplyDeleteAlan should be due some new laccy now with all them pound coins he's been collecting recently and he might be able to afford his own paste instead of scabbing off of Mark Radford every week.
